Our Instructors

Kevin Bryant

Kevin was born in Binghamton, New York, in 1960 and is a dual citizen, having spent the first half of his life in the US and the second in the United Kingdom.

Kevin is, first and foremost, a 30-year student of Yang (Yeung) Family Tai Chi Chuan and also a 20-year teacher. He has studied with the greats of Yeung Family Kung Fu.

He began his tuition with Chu Gin Soon (Boston, USA), the second disciple of Yang Sau Chung. In 1998, after relocating for work to London, England, he was introduced to Jim Uglow (London), Direct Student of Yang Sau Chung's daughter, Yeung Ma Lee sifu. Jim is the premier Yeung Family exponent in Europe. He has a 40-plus-year legacy of teaching, training, and sharing the essence of Tai Chi Chuan and Yeung Family Kung Fu (Jim Uglow’s website).

Kevin became a disciple in 2007 and has accompanied his teacher on many trips (15) to Hong Kong to train with Yeung Ma Lee sifu and her husband James, as well as once-in-a-lifetime training opportunities in the US and London.

Kevin is most interested in the Family’s art not just as a martial art but as an ‘operating system’ for life - self defense in its greatest sense, a path toward physical, mental, and spiritual transformation.

In his ‘spare time’, Kevin is the CEO of a global reputation management company, Educated Change. With more than 50 staff, Kevin and his team help senior executives connect, engage and share their light digitally with the people who matter in their professional and personal lives.

Kevin lives in Brighton/Hove with his wife of 40 years and has three wonderful children and one amazing grandson!

Finalement, Kevin parle francais aussi et enseigne parfois en francais, particulierement quand il enseigne par video.

Yeung Family Tai Chi

Kevin shares a little about his Tai Chi journey and teaching heritage.

Stephanie Hunt

Stephanie began her Tai Chi journey in 2007.  She wanted a ‘gentle’ form of exercise.  Once finding Kevin’s website, it wasn't until March 2008 that she plucked up the courage to try a class. In her own words:

'I went to the first class knowing only the image I’d seen on TV of a group of people moving slowly in the park.  If I had realised it was a ‘martial art’ before that first class, it is doubtful that I would have gone at all, but then I would have missed out on years of learning, fun and laughter, not to mention gentle exercise.

'And why do I keep coming back?  I have had a glimpse of something deeper that this art holds. With more time and practice, I'm hoping that the glimpse will turn into a full length movie! In the meantime the journey continues to be worth it. As we often say, 'It's all about the journey!'

Stephanie has a particular gift for teaching beginning students. Patience, knowledge, intelligence and humour...lots of humour, are hallmarks of her teaching style. She began to help out with Saturday classes in 2016 and has continued faithfully to the present.

In her other life Stephanie was born and brought up in Walton-on-Thames.  After leaving the WRENS she was offered a job as a Civil Servant and has been happily working in this occupation ever since. She is an ardent cat lover and has been known to coo at a stray animal or two roaming outside the training hall.
